6 Tips to prepare you for an interview

Congratulations, you have got a first round interview. Now what? It is important to make sure you are fully prepared and ready, we have some tips below to help you absolutely smash your interview.

 

  • Do your research. It is important to be organised and have put some time into researching the company you are interviewing for. Review the website, and look at LinkedIn profiles of the people that will be interviewing you.

 

  • Be prepared. If the interview is online, make sure you have done a test run to make sure everything is working correctly. Review the job specification, and think of some questions and examples that are relevant to the role. It is also a good idea to take yourself somewhere you know you will not be disturbed or interrupted once on the call.

 

  • Know your competitive edge. Be aware of what makes you stand out from other candidates. Know what assets you have and make a point of talking through them, technical skills and practical.

 

  • Pay attention. Ensure you listen carefully to questions asked, take time to think about your response and provide a clear example that’s relevant to what was asked.

 

  • Be punctual. It is very important to be on time for your interview. Whether the interview is online or in person be ready / there at least 10 minutes before you are due to start.

 

  • Build rapport. Try to establish a connection with the interviewer, they will be looking out for if you are a good fit for the team.
